When our friends at The Old School House (TOSH) mentioned their meeting room was looking a bit worn out, we had to agree. After being used as a storage space during building works, it required some tlc. Having enjoyed our time in this wonderful creative coworking space, we volunteered to assist with the refurbishment, aiming to create a meeting room that reflects the warmth of the TOSH community and provides an inviting space for hosting meetings.
In small, narrow spaces, feature walls can make them feel even more confined or short, and bold colours can be overwhelming. To address this, we placed the colour above the eye line and across the ceiling, adding ambience while preserving the room's spacious feel. Yellow was the perfect choice, as it is associated with happiness, energy, and creativity, making the room feel like sunshine – exactly what it needed.
We installed plug-in wall lights to provide softer lighting, complementing the existing industrial fittings that had to remain. Acoustic panelling was added not only to improve the environment for busy meetings but also to serve as a focal point and balance the room's proportions.
